Nah, it's cool, no worries. Well, good music does transcend... but so does catchy music... y'know, the kind that sounds like crap when you actually listen to the lyrics. That's what the majority of the pop bands are like here, especially the boy and girl groups, like anything produced by Tsunku (Morning Musume, etc.) or Johnny's (Ka-ttun, etc.). I'm serious about this though... once you listen to meaning of the lyrics, you find out just how brain dead they are... >_>

No insult meant. Living in Tokyo must be expensive, or so I've heard. I've only been to Japan a few times, and always on Military fly through. I've become a little bit jaded to American Pop music as it doesn't seem to have the flavor I want or enjoy. Discovering the Japanes girl singer groups has taken me back to the days when the British music invasion of the 60's impressed me. I enjoy the songs, though I don't speak Japanese. But good music transcends language. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

I live here. In Tokyo. By not going then, I'm not exactly missing out on my only opportunity... >_> Also, it's not exactly my cup of tea. I've only been to Akiba, maybe, five times since I moved to Japan five years ago, with my first time going there being about two years ago.

Why did you leave. I would have found it a life experience that was unusual, but pleasant. Just because mostly (well, mostly!) men that attend these shows is no reason to turn away from the experience. You probably missed out on a wonderful experience. But hope you had a good time anyway in Japan.

I found the AKB Theater in Akihabara completely by accident in DonKi when I was showing my friend around. I promptly turned around and left. Incidentally, the entire area was packed with nothing but guys ranging from college age to middle age. Not all of them looked like otaku either, but that doesn't mean much since some actually blend into society now.
