Seiko Matsuda san is fabulous and has inspired so many younger generations of perfomers. She is still as good as ever even here in Singapore she still has a huge following. Cheers!

What's funny is she looks younger NOW than her old performances.
Why are there Matsuda Seiko haters even watching this video? Stupid.

Do you know the film "Surrogate Mother" with Seiko Matsuda. She is also an actress.

Exactly, Matsuda songs fucking suck
YEAROFRAT2008 2008-03-08
Matsuda Seiko can't make a cool song.

Seiko came after 小山ルミ...Rumi Koyama, huh?

She sounds like a screeming cat at times. I don't like when her voice cracks up when she hits a high note. Too freaking screechy! She is not the only one, though.

Seiko is great performer, no matter what anyone says to the contrary...
Of course, someone can be a great performer and still not please everyone.

This was a great video. I loved it!

It's amazing you don't know "Akai Sweet Pea". I mean really. Ahaha. No offense or anything, but I think that was the single that started her 24 consecutive hits, right?

I don't agree that Seiko's songs are more old fashion. Instead her songs, even from 1980, still sound amazing and relevant as of today. Thats why she is a bigger star than anybody else. Those who belittle her talent have no idea what an era Seiko single handedly created. Seiko has a huge catelog of amazing songs, those 10 in this video are not even close enough to showcase 1% of them. If you think her songs are all the same, either your hearing or your music sense(or both) have problem.

what constitute a good singer is not only a good voice!! of course hiromi iwasaki has a good voice but that's not enough, a good singer has to master the art of stage performances and broadcast her charisma

Akina and Seiko are different styles. I think, at least, when Seiko was young, her voice was much sharper and more penetrable than Akina. That's why the arrangers often add the orchestral instruments into Seiko's songs and add the band instruments into Akina's songs. So, Seiko's music sounds a little bit old fashion...

I dont know why, I dont like Seiko, cant get into her music. personally, in my opinion, Akina Nakamori is alot better but that is my opinion.

How superficial you are!!! Seiko could really sing wonderfully with a big live band at any live show in the early 80s. Looking back to the early 80s, the time without music video, not so many idols could sing, dance, and performed better than she did. Hiromi Iwasaki did have a good voice, but it didn't mean she could entertain everyone and perform better than Seiko at that time. How come she has no talent? Before your conclusion, please overview the history of Jpop.

Time has proved that she has no talents, check Hiromi Iwasaki, who debut 4-5yr before her That is a real singer. Checked at Hiromi earliest video and today and see the quality of good performer there! Seiko would do whatever she can to sell her records and maintain that superficial image. I am sad that she is turn into this way.

IMO, you have to look at the time and context that Seiko became a super idol. In the early 80's, there was a void of a "superstar" in the Jpop music world. There was also the "burriko" phenomenon which Seiko virtually started and all the idols of that time followed suit. It was scandalous at that time for young girls to wear dark nail polish, have pierced ears and be sexy. If you weren't into the Jpop music scene back then, you can't really understand the fascination with Seiko.

Number 4.
That's the ONLY song I know from her. That was the year 1980, I believe. I was still in my early-teens when this song pretty much swept the entire island of Japan like a gigantic hurricane! You could literally hear this song playing out of virtually every corner of your life back then. What a trip down memory lane!
